Hobart's "Thank You Tuesday" helps Harrogate community care service provider deliver more meals to those in need

Harrogate Neighbours, a leading community care service provider, has been able to extend its vital meals on wheels service thanks to winning a brand-new Hobart Ecomax combi oven, part of the manufacturer’s exclusive ‘Thank You Tuesday’ Meals on Wheels Week giveaway.

Meals on Wheels Week shines a spotlight on the vital delivery service which supplies meals to those in need across the UK. Last year, Hobart proudly partnered with the NACC (National Association of Care Catering) to support the event, marking the occasion with an exclusive product giveaway on ‘Thank you Tuesday’ – offering an Ecomax combi oven as a prize.

The competition invited users on social media to nominate an unsung hero - a person or healthcare site deserving of the machine. Harrogate Neighbours were duly nominated and drawn out of a hat as the eventual winners, choosing their care home site Heath Lodge as beneficiary of the new combi oven. With an initial remit of supporting the culinary staff at Heath Lodge with daily meals for the residents, Harrogate Neighbours are now going to use the extra cooking capacity gifted by the oven to collaborate with Boroughbridge Community Care to expand their existing Meals on Wheels service. The new Ecomax combi will play a pivotal role helping increase the food production and quantities of meals to those most in need.

The ten-grid Ecomax combi oven is part of Hobart’s value-focused range, combining reliability and ease of use, making it an ideal solution for care providers like Harrogate Neighbours to meet the growing demand for their services.

Hobart managing director, Tracy Southwell comments: “Huge congratulations to such a deserving recipient. I’ve seen first-hand the great work that the service provides, and we are so proud to support Harrogate Neighbours and their commitment to Meals on Wheels. We couldn’t be more pleased that through our donation, a lot more people in their local community will benefit.”

Harrogate Neighbours chief executive, Sue Cawthray adds: “It’s been fantastic to win the Hobart competition for Heath Lodge. The new oven will have such a positive impact on the kitchen as well as helping to develop our services in the future. We’re looking forward to working with Boroughbridge Community Care to not only continue the great work we do, but also expand our existing services later this year.

“Working with Hobart has been brilliant, and we greatly value the support from the team – especially from Evan Welsh [Hobart area manager, Cooking]. Evan has been vital in providing training to the staff and giving us confidence in the operation of our new oven.”
