Hobart Gearing up to Support Meals on Wheels Week in ‘Pivotal Year’ for the Service

Hobart is pleased to support the forthcoming Meals on Wheels Week (30th October-3rd November) in celebration of the vital UK-wide service, and the unsung heroes that work within it. The manufacturer will be using the week to help raise awareness of the good the service does in supporting the most vulnerable in society to access nutritious hot meals and vital human contact on a regular basis.

Hobart, a champion of the public sector for decades, will be marking the week with several key events, including an exclusive product giveaway. On Thank you Tuesday (31st October) Hobart will be gifting one hard working provider with a brand new Ecomax Combi Oven. The manufacturer will be asking users on social media to nominate an unsung hero - a person or healthcare site deserving of the machine. The winner will be unveiled across Hobart’s social channels on Thursday 2nd November.

On the Wednesday of the week (November 1st) Hobart MD Tracy Southwell will be sharing an exclusive video diary of her experience shadowing a Meals on Wheels delivery operation with Health and Living Independent Support (HILS). As the week approaches, she comments: “Hobart has long been a champion of the healthcare sector and this year we couldn’t be prouder to show our support for a service so beneficial to wider society, yet one that is under pressure like never before. My experience on the road with Meals on Wheels was heartwarming, enlightening and incredibly positive. I would urge other business leaders to come forward so they too can see the wider benefits of the service in keeping vulnerable people out of hospital, allowing for early discharge, and freeing up bed space. Over and above all of this, the Meals on Wheels service helps avert community malnutrition, while offering many of these people a friendly face and some much-needed respite from loneliness.”

“We can’t wait for the week to begin as we prepare to celebrate one of the most vital healthcare services in the UK.”

Hobart, redefining innovation to make kitchen life easier.
