It is with great sadness that the British Culinary Federation reports that Murray Chapman, founder of A Passion to Inspire, has passed away last week, following his diagnosis of Motor Neurone disease earlier this year.
A former Michelin-starred chef, Murray set up A Passion to Inspire in 2009, a not-for-profit initiative to support front and back of house students on their journey through education, by working with colleges, renowned chefs, suppliers, various organisations and operators. He organised numerous events to help provide skills training, mentoring and competitions for hundreds of students.
A winner of the Education and Training Award at the 2021 Cateys, he was exceptionally dedicated and a selfless educator.
Murray was a massive supporter of young chefs, was well respected and had so much impact on people right across the hospitality industry.
A Passion To Inspire over the years raised £240,000 for various charities such as Teenage Cancer Trust and Hospitality Action.
Murray will be sadly missed. The industry has lost a good friend and legend.
